March 28......  spring has finally started to think about coming.  We've had the shop doors open a few days, and even though it's only 45-60 degrees outside, it has felt great.  Trade  show season has come and gone with nothing but positive response to the new T.V.  show and all the new products we have made available this year.  Thanks everyone for the support and feed back.  Sales have gone through the roof, and it seems like lately I've spent all my time coming up with ways to make the shop run smoother with less headache..... so far my head still hurts.  Implementing some new production scheduling has brought our lead time on a rifle system down considerably. Most customers are waiting 3 to 5 months.  I'm really excited with how the new muzzle loader project is turning out.  In fact I think I have decided I will no longer be hunting with a rifle..... OK well I might once in a while. The the muzzle loaders are shooting lights out. Holding MOA accuracy out to 500 yards with way less wind deflection then when using conventional bullets.   I shot two mule deer last season, both just under 400 yards with a prototype.... I'm hooked.

The new year is going well. No one likes change, and with the split away from our old Best of the West partners, we had our concerns about going forward. Despite our concerns, 2011 has been excellent. The reception for “Long Range Pursuit” has been very strong, and very positive. We will continue to work hard to bring you the best long range content on TV. Keep watching.

Trade shows have gone well. Sales are up across the board—even though competition for the long range hunting rifle segment is stiffer than ever. I’ve been really impressed with how saavy the market has become. Customers have become very discriminating when purchasing expensive custom rifles. They know quality. For my first post on our new LRP blog, I wanted to let you know how excited we are to be working, hunting and filming for our new show. In the past we have been limited with the direction and focus of our hunting adventures, and our shooting instruction segments. LRP will be different-- with detailed information, longer shooting tips, and more challenging hunting and shooting. As we continue to get content live on the new website, please check back often.

We are busy filiming hunts and building rifles, so new video content may be slow, but next January, the show episodes will be live online, and we will make all of our tips and segments available.

Speaking of hunts, my daughter Harley drew a coveted Area 5 Big Horn Sheep tag this year, and it may be the most exciting hunt opportunity I have this fall. We are planning a quick backpack trip in, but coordinating our office schedule with her school and volleyball (and nice weather!) is proving to be a challenge. Hopefully, by my next post we will have some sheep pictures (Harley is great shot, but I’m questioning my guiding skills)!
